“Good and straight is Yahweh; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way. He guides the meek ones in right ruling, and He teaches the meek ones His way. All the paths of Yahweh are loving-commitment and truth, to those who guard His covenant and His witnesses.”
Psalm 25:8-10
Good morning, afternoon, or evening wherever you are! I opened to this Psalm yesterday as sometimes, if I don’t know what to read, I will read the Psalms and Proverbs that corresponds with the day of the week. This Psalm has always been one of my favorites and I kept pondering this particular verse.
You know, we tend to contemplate Yahweh’s goodness as it relates to His wonders or miracles or the good gifts He gives us in life. But do we consider His goodness when it comes to His laws and statutes? When was the last time you heard a sermon on His laws which are good? Or a full sermon on Leviticus? A full teaching on how good His commandments are?
Did you catch how in this verse His goodness is tied to teaching sinners the way we should go? He is good…THEREFORE!… He teaches us. He instructs us. He guides us in the way we should walk.
Surely an all powerful God can display His goodness in a breathtaking sunset or mountain view or the design of a single flower. But how incredible is an Elohim who can patiently instruct and teach sinful man in the way he should go? Man who is but a breath. Man who, without Him, is as a stupid sheep. Man who may honor Him with his lips but his heart is far from Him.
The Father’s love for us is so great because He longs for us to be blessed in this life and for all eternity. He desires to dwell with you and with me forever. It has always been in His heart to do so. His love in teaching us His ways has everything to do with a good Father wanting to lavish every bit of undeserved favor on His children.
Just like a mother wears many hats…she is mother, nurturer, cook, cleaning lady, nurse, teacher, friend, counselor…and so on…Yahweh of course has many responsibilities and roles. He is Father. He is the Most High. He is Soverign. But have you ever though of Him as teacher? Who better to learn from, glean knowledge from, gain wisdom from…than the Master over all creation. And He wants to teach us!!?? Unfathomable.
Scripture tells us in Isaiah 54:13 that our children will be taught by Yahweh Himself. This is referring to the millenium when we will all be taught by Him in His Kingdom…but this passage refers specifically to Yahweh as Teacher. His teaching will span eternity. Oh how much we will learn. Why not begin now? All it takes is a humble and meek heart…a heart that sincerely longs to know Him, love Him, and be with Him and His Son Yeshua forever.
“Thus says Yahweh, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am Yahweh your Elohim, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.’”
Isaiah 48:17
